Indian Spirit – Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera) – 50G Powder
The dried roots of the Withania Somnifera form the basis for Ashwagandha. This herb plays a crucial role in Ayurvedic traditions in India, thanks to its adaptogenic properties.
Ashwagandha and its effects
Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, meaning it helps to balance the mind and body. Nervous before a trip or upon arrival at your destination? A capsule of Ashwagandha can help you achieve a more stable state of mind and increase your energy.
Active ingredients
The main active substances in Ashwagandha are withanolides, especially withaferin A. These substances are similar to the active ingredients of Panax ginseng, which is why Ashwagandha is sometimes nicknamed "Indian ginseng". Withanolides are present in all nightshade family plants, but the highest concentrations are found in Withania somnifera.
Applications
Traditionally, people chew on a piece of Ashwagandha root. However, you can use the herb in different ways, for example in capsules, mixed with fruit juice, in a milkshake or tea. You can also make tea from the shredded variety.
We recommend using Ashwagandha daily for a longer period of time, but take a break of several weeks after each month. The recommended dose is 250 mg twice a day before meals.
Storage advice
Store Ashwagandha in its original packaging in a dry and cool place, out of the reach of children.
